How whole body vibration works
Vibration therapy uses gentle mechanical vibrations that travel through the body, causing rapid muscle contractions and stimulating nervous system to support strength, balance, and bone health.
Those rapid vibrations send mechanical signals through the bones, activating bone-building cells. The process also enhances communication between muscles and bones, supporting strength, stability, and bone quality over time.

Circulation and recovery
By supporting blood flow and lymphatic drainage, vibration therapy aids recovery and mobility. Increased circulation delivers more oxygen and nutrients to muscles and joints, leaving the body feeling looser and more flexible.
Because the effect is systemic rather than targeted, a few minutes on the platform prepares the whole body at once. That's why vibration comes first in every OsteoStrong session — so muscles and joints are warmed and responsive before moving to the osteogenic loading devices.
What the Research Shows
Vibration therapy has been studied for its effects on muscle activation, bone health, and balance across a range of ages.
Bone density in postmenopausal women
A study of 116 postmenopausal women with osteoporosis found that vibration therapy increased bone mineral density at the femoral neck and lumbar spine, and reduced chronic back pain over six months.
A review of vibration therapy for osteoporosis
A 2023 review in Cureus surveyed a decade of clinical trials on whole body vibration in postmenopausal women and older adults with osteoporosis. The authors note that vibration therapy is already used by space agencies to help astronauts regain bone and muscle mass after long missions, and that its potential to restore bone mass has driven research into age-related bone loss.
What a session is like
Stand on the platform, hold the support frame, and let the plate do the work. It takes about five minutes and comes at the start of every session, before moving to the four Growth Trigger devices.

Most members describe it as a mild buzzing sensation. There's no strain and no exertion, which is part of why it works well for people who find conventional warm-ups uncomfortable, are struggling with back or joint pain, or have low bone density.
Try it at either Houston location
Whole body vibration is part of every session at our Spring Branch and River Oaks centers.
