Osteogenic Loading: The Science Behind Stronger Bones

A century of bone research, applied in fifteen minutes a week.

The Research Behind Osteogenic Loading

The idea isn't new. What's changed is our understanding of how much force it takes.

Bones adapt to the loads placed on them

In the 1890s, Dr. Julius Wolff observed that bone remodels in response to the forces it experiences. Load it, and it builds. This became known as Wolff's Law, and it remains the foundation of every bone-loading protocol in use today.

There is a minimum force threshold

Research on high-impact activity and hip bone density points to a threshold effect: moderate and low-impact activity show little relationship to hip BMD, while high-impact activity shows a strong one. OsteoStrong's system is built around a target of roughly 4.2 multiples of body weight at the hip — the site where fracture carries the highest cost. Conventional resistance training in adults typically produces 1.26 to 1.54 multiples.

Bone density improved in postmenopausal women

A 24-week study of postmenopausal women using axial bone osteogenic loading found improvements in bone mineral density and functional bone performance.

Loading studied alongside bisphosphonate therapy

Research published in 2013 examined osteogenic loading alongside bisphosphonate therapy, and found bone density gains in participants both taking and not taking the medication.

Can be combined with medication to improve bone density

A 2025 case-series followed 147 peri- and postmenopausal women with osteoporosis over twelve months. Participants using OsteoStrong showed modest lumbar spine bone density improvements. Some subgroup effects did not hold after statistical adjustment, and the authors called for further study in larger populations.

Science advances. We expect future research on larger and more diverse populations, and we'll share what it shows.

How an OsteoStrong Session Builds Bone

15 Minutes, Once a Week

A session takes about fifteen minutes: five minutes of whole body vibration to activate, then roughly ten on the four-device circuit. A coach guides you through every movement.

Osteogenic loading stimulates osteoblasts — the cells that build bone. A safe, controlled load signals bone and muscle to adapt. The four devices replicate the benefits of high-impact activity without the risk, and each session is designed to improve bone density, strength, balance, and posture.

Each device isolates a different region of the skeleton. A coach positions you and guides the effort.

Upper Growth Trigger

Loads the arms, shoulders, wrists, and upper spine through a controlled pressing movement. The wrist and forearm are among the most common fracture sites in adults with low bone density.

Lower Growth Trigger

Applies axial compression through the hips, femurs, and spine from a seated leg press position. This is the device targeting the hip, where research points to a threshold of roughly 4.2 multiples of body weight.

Core Growth Trigger

Engages the trunk and midsection from a seated position, loading the spine and the musculature that stabilizes it. Spinal compression fractures are often the first sign of advancing bone loss.

Postural Growth Trigger

Performed standing on a platform, loading the full posterior chain from ankles through spine. The position reinforces upright posture and the balance mechanics that prevent falls.

Why High-Impact Force Is Required to Build Bone

Bone responds best to high-impact force. Studies consistently find that forces above roughly four times body weight — especially at the hip — are what stimulate growth.

The problem is that high-impact movement gets riskier with age, so most adults avoid it. Even regular exercisers rarely reach the forces their bones need.

OsteoStrong's devices emulate impact without the impact. The result: stronger bones, better balance and posture, and greater overall strength.
